Magical Dining in APOPKA! Went to Backroom Steakhouse tonight. We loved it. A quaint place with lots of character and great food and drinks. We had MD and some other items off the regular menu. First of all, they do great scratch craft cocktails (and have a magical cocktail menu). Also, BYOW and only a $15 corking fee!
The owner Ed is so nice and passionate about the restaurant and the customers. He stops by every table. It's lovely and he cares so much that everyone leaves happy (and full!).
We had the shrimp cocktail, the egg rolls and the scallops. Incredible. The shrimp were huge and the short rib eggrolls were a flavor explosion of yum. Giant and perfectly seasoned, tender scallops - I am not much of a polenta fan so that part of the scallop dish was just ok.
NY Strip and crab cakes for the next course. I ordered the crab cakes from the appetizer menu. I am from MD - they were delicious and the remoulade was a great addition but they were not the lump crab as I had hoped for. A very large portion for an appetizer and if you like crab cakes - it's a solid choice for Orlando.
The steak, the steak, the steak. Holy deliciousness . I was not craving steak (and don't eat too much red meat) so I didn't do MD and clearly should have. I couldn't stop eating off my husband's plate. Fortunately, it was a very large portion to share.
For the desserts, we had the chocolate cake, the cheesecake and the key lime (this one went home so no review). They were out of their standard chocolate cake and only had the Reese's one. All excellent.
The service was on point and we would love to make the field trip again.
HINT: check in on Yelp and get 1/2 off an app. Check the bill though because they sometimes forget. -

Yasssssss, Another One! This is another hidden gem that was on MAGICAL DINING! As soon as we sat down, water and bread hit the table! Shortly after, our server John appeared and went over the menu and MD. My cousin and friends raved about this place and said it was better than our favorite 5 star seafood and steakhouse in Orlando. It is located in a strip mall, next to Beef O Brady's but it's worth a try.
Order: Shrimp Cocktail, New York Strip Steak (garlic mashed & Creamed Spinach), and Cheesecake. They also had MD drink menu. The drinks were good and strong for $11.
Service: Our server John was outstanding!! We received AWESOME service from the moment we walked in
Pros:
Awesome Service
Seasoned, Tender Steaks that are cooked well
Both sides were really rich and good
Good Drinks
Quick Service
Cons:
Unsanitary Unisex Bathroom
Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend it and go back. I liked the vibe, service, and food!! -

This place has been on my list of places to try but I rarely find myself in Apopka. However, with magical dining going on, I decided to go.
The server was quick to provide menus and water.
I went w a seasonal
Cocktail, the orange groves. It was delicious.
Mom had the ahi tuna, the 14oz ny strip w asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. Dad had the Caesar salad, the egg rolls and the pork chop with creamed spinach. I ordered on the regular menu, not the magical dining menu. I had the scallops over riced cauliflower and the lamb chops.
The best appetizer was by far the scallops. The ahi was forgettable. The egg rolls were standard.
The pork chop was delicious. They brought it out with broccolini and creamed spinach. When the waiter realized it wasn't the sides my dad wanted, she quickly brought it some asparagus. So he has all the sides haha. The ny strip was cooked perfectly but a little grisly. My lamb was overcooked but still very tasty. I wanted med rare but got medium. No worries. Not sure why they put chili oil on it. It isn't noticeable.
For dessert mom had the chocolate earthquake cake. I thought it would be hot but it wasn't. It's a three layer chocolate cake with fudge on the bottom. Pretty good. The best cake was mine- the peanut butter chocolate cake. So delicious. Three layers of not too sweet chocolate cake with peanut butter ice cream and peanut butter drizzle and peanut butter chips. Yum. Dad had the key lime pie, standard fare.
Overall good service and good food. Bathrooms are clean. Parking is plentiful. I wouldn't go out of the way to drive here but I'd stop in if I was in the area. -

We saw this place while driving. My friend did me a solid by putting starter in my car so I decided to treat him and his wife to this place. He said it's the only steak place in ho he said it's the only steak place in this area.
When we arrived the restaurant was about half full. I thought it might have more people given the reviews we saw. I ordered the New York strip steak. Medium rare of course. When it came out, and I cut into it, it was still cold in the center. This happens a lot when trying to get steak medium rare. But the good news is I sent it back and it came back to me perfect. It was tasty, And I had rate it a 7 out of 10. The rest of my party also ordered steak.
The service was quick and the waitress was very nice. She was responsive to our needs. There is plenty of parking and if you're looking for a steakhouse I can recommend this place. -

We made a 45 minute drive out to Apopka to try this place, since it was on the Magical Dining menu and some of our friends from the area has heard the food was good.
Understatement of the year.
Staff - Everyone was super friendly but not overbearing. Our server Jennifer was attentive, if she didn't come over to check on us, one of the other wait staff did and filled our drinks, boxes up our appetizers... Ed the owner dropped by and spoke with us at the table.
Food - OH MY GOD!!! The brisket egg roll appetizer with gravy was excellent and so was the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese. We had the 14oz NY strip and 14oz pork chop. Both were cooked to perfection and so flavorful!!! Do yourself a favor and get the mushrooms as a side, so savory!
I would definitely come back to eat there!
